Online MPH Programs

Overall, there are over 140 different online MPH programs that are CEPH accredited. There a number of growing concentrations, and numerous universities are continuing to bring their MPH into an online environment.
Consider the following questions when you are researching MPH programs online:
  • Is the MPH program CEPH accredited? What is the accreditation?
  • What is the length of this online MPH program?
  • Is the coursework autonomous?
  • What are the entry requirements? Are GRE test scores required?
  • What is the tuition cost for the MPH program?
Our guide below will give you an idea of some of the answers for the above questions, but be sure to check with the programs you apply to. Every MPH program is different. Some require GRE test scores, while others do not, or have options to test out of the GRE. Some programs are more expensive than others, but one point that should be noted is that nearly every MPH program will require an undergraduate / Bachelors degree.

When you are searching for online MPH programs, you may see an overwhelming amount of programs that offer the same degree. One thing that sets certain universities apart from others is the addition of proper accreditation.

One year online MPH

If you are determined to get your foot in the door in the booming public health industry, than there are many different options for you to choose from. If you are excited to get involved, there are even programs that can be completed in 1 year.

George Washington University, for example, offers students an accelerated 12-month program that includes all of the standard aspects of the MPH program. Due to the rigorous nature of this program, you may not be able to maintain full-time employment during its duration. GWU requires that students receive pre-approval for the accelerated program prior to beginning, so be sure to contact the university early on to prevent any hold-ups.

CEPH Accredited online MPH programs

For public health educational programs, accreditation from the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) is the seal of approval to look for when browsing a schools website. You may frequently see universities that have institution-wide accreditation, or regional accreditation, but nothing specific to each program.

This is an important factor to consider, because even though some universities offer regional accreditation, this means nothing for public health specifically. If you want the most useful and reliable online MPH program, find degree programs that are accredited by the CEPH.

Online MPH programs without a GRE Requirement

After you have completed the long journey of obtaining your bachelors degree, the last thing you want to discover is that you have to take another exam to get into graduate school. Entry-level graduate exams are used in conjunction with grade point average to determine if applicants are qualified for admissions, especially in universities with a high application rate.

The most prevalent graduate-entry exam is the Graduate Record Exam – or more commonly, the GRE. A lot of universities require that undergrads successfully complete this exam prior to being accepted into higher education programs. The exam itself consists of 3 sections – analytical writing, verbal skills, and math.

Most locations offer the test via computer, but some locations may still use the traditional paper and pencil method. The 3 – 4 hour exam tests a students basic skills to ensure that they have what it takes to be a productive graduate-level student. If you have not taken the GRE, or you have and did not score as well as you would have liked, there are options available for graduate level education.

Knowing what goes into completing the Graduate Record Exam, it is no surprise that some students are interested in finding MPH programs that do not require the GRE at all. If you are concerned that you might not find a university to accept you, there is no need to worry. Finding a university that is fitting for your situation is possible, without having to settle for a less than perfect institution.

On your journey, you are probably also looking for universities that are accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH), so that you can get the most out of your degree program. While there are few schools that discard the GRE requirement and have CEPH certification, you should not be discouraged. Our team looked carefully through online MPH programs to find schools that bypass the need for the GRE, while still conserving the necessary accreditation requirement.

If you have not taken the Graduate Record Exam and are hoping to find a school that does not require it, you have navigated to the right place. There is no need to sacrifice quality when choosing a degree program that meets your individual standards. Take a look below at what we have found.
